COYOTE ROUNDUP AND SILENT AUCTION
APRIL 25, 2008
Canyon View will host it annual festival, Coyote Round-Up, on Friday, April 25, 2008. This fun-filled event includes music provided by a professional DJ and lots of fun games with prizes. There is a cake walk as well as vendor-offered foods such as Submarina, New York Giant Pizza, Bucky’s Ice Cream, Jamba Juice.
While the kids are having fun outside, Canyon View Elementary Foundation invites parents to party inside, at the Silent Auction. This is the premier Canyon View event and each year boasts new and exciting offerings. Don’t miss out! Shop early; tables close at different times so plan your purchases carefully to be sure you win your favorite items. All proceeds benefit our school. Kids Count Parent Forum
Thursday May 1st 6:30 pm MPR
The Kids Count organization will be conducting a parent’s education night. Topic of discussion will be the peer pressures your child will encounter in middle school. This seminar as recommended for all fifth grade parents and parents of middle school students. Parents who attended last year found it to be a very open, honest and enlightening evening

STAR TESTING
This spring, your child, along with all public school students throughout California, will participate in California’s Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) Program. Students at our school will take tests on the following dates:
Grade 2: April 21 – May 2
Grade 3: April 21 – May 2
Grade 4: March 4

Yearbook Deadline Extended
Did you think you missed out on the best yearbook in town. The order deadline has been extended to April 23rd. Books are $18 each. Many people believe that they ordered a book in the fall, however, they only went on sale a few weeks ago. Order yours today!

Integrated Preschool Opportunity
Poway Unified School District is pleased to offer for the 2008-2009 school year, Integrated Preschool Programs at Pomerado Elementary and Deer Canyon Elementary schools. They will serve 3 to 5 year old children with and without special needs. All children in the preschool programs will work as an integrated group. The curriculum is play-based, which means that children are encouraged to play together in a way that leads to growth and development. Our preschool staff will meet with you and arrange a class visitation and provide information about enrollment. Class Time: M-R, 5 hours per day (Alternate times will be considered) Options: 3 to 5 day options available. Cost: Five day program is $310 a month. Prorated rates are available for other options. Be Cool – Be Friends month
is coming in May!
This will be a special month of activities sponsored by the 5th grade S.A.V.E Club to promote peaceful and fun ways to Be Cool and Be Friends!
The S.A.V.E club would like YOU to design a poster that shows how you can “Be Cool & Be Friends” with other kids at Canyon View
Posters should be no larger than 9 x 15. Make them colorful. Be creative!
Posters should be turned in to Mrs. Hatfield in Room 29 by April 23rd and then you will get to see your poster on display in May!
